Fairies: Angels of the Earth
The truth about fairies and why having them in our lives is so important to our wellbeing and destiny.
Fairies are angels of the Earth. I discovered this very simple fact only a few years ago, when my spiritual journey began to shift from the Heavens to the ground below.
As we conclude the season of Fairies here in the Mythical Musings community, I wanted to take the time to dive a little deeper into the realm of fairies as a whole.
Like I stated in the podcast, the world of the fairies is too vast, too extensive, and too mysterious for me to cover in one show. The same goes for this one article. But before you read on I want you to know that I will do my best to give you a perspective on fairies that you may not hear otherwise or elsewhere.
First off, fairies are anything but mythical.
Ordinary people see, hear, and feel fairies every day. If you are reading this article and/or have become part of this community I venture to guess you have already felt a spiritual connection to the fairy world. Or least a connection to a world beyond basic human belief.
Fairies defy human belief because they can usually be spotted with the naked eye. That’s right. We, humans, have a tendency to ignore what’s right under our noses, in front of our faces, or the good ol’ obvious. Fairies are the ones tapping at our psyche and it can be so obvious that it is too scary to acknowledge, so we simply ignore them.
Fairies are magical beings that come in all different shapes and sizes and hail from the land of the Fae. Most associated with the Irish culture, and for good reason, fairies have their place in nearly every culture in the world. They defy logic, space, and time – and waste no time in forgetting to care what humans think of them.
The four types of fairies known to pop culture are usually the elemental fairies: Water, Fire, Earth, and Air Faeries. Stemming from the Latin word, “Fata,” or “Fate,” to many scholars and believers’ fairies are the ones that are there for us in both good and bad ways.
Despite the fact that many detest or simply don’t bother with humans, I think that fairies are one of the closet spiritual species connected with the human race. They are imperfect creatures who don’t understand everything and yet have the ability to use their intuition to control destiny.
While some believe that fairies and other nature spirits are “demoted angles,” I tend to favor the view that they are angels of the Earth; sent here by a higher power who knew that every now and then we need someone to be on our level and help us while we journey to the gates of St. Peter or Cernunnos – or Mephistopheles.
Fairies tend to trick us and make us want to pull our hairs out. But when you think about it, so do children…and the occasional Dalmatian puppy. At the end of the day, though, they love us and will do everything they can to help us when we ask.
Even the malevolent fairies like the Rusalka from the Baba Yaga fairytales or the Goblins from the children’s classic tale, “Little Bear” – all have their place within the fairy realm and a power unlike any other. Their malevolent powers, when invoked correctly, can come in handy when you have an unsavory problem on your hands (especially if it involves a jerk disguised as a human).
At the end of the day, fairies are here to remind us that life isn’t worth living without a little magick thrown into the mix. They also remind us that this very same magick lives within each of us. We need only to awaken it through faith, hope, and believing in ourselves.
Fairies, who can be invoked in so many different ways including through meditation, walking in the woods, cooking, singing, dancing, dreaming, or thinking; have an unconventional way of guiding us on the path of our chosen destiny. (“Fata”)
So the next time you feel like pulling your hair out because your dog knocks your mac n’ cheese off the counter and eats it for himself (not kidding, my little Prince Legend did that to me just the other day) – or the next time you see a flower and smile; think of a fairy.
The right fairy finds you. One day you may be hiking through the woods or by the ocean or simply walking down the street and feel a tingle on your arms. Who knows?
Maybe it is that angel of the Earth simply saying, “Hi…”
Keep believing!
~ Michelle 😊
P.S. I swear my fur babies converse with the fairies on new ways they can torture me with their mischievousness cuteness. Back to cleaning up their mess…
