The Good God: Daghda
The Daghda is an ancient Irish fairy known for his tricks and his "sexual" prowess. But who really is this ancient Celtic deity and why is his magick essential to the season of dark and Samhain?
“The Good God,” as if.
If you have listened to the past few episodes of the podcast and your interest in fairyland has risen, I think I should tell you that before you book your tickets and take a flight on some fairy wings you need to watch out for one man:
The High King, or THE Daghda.
Daghda is the Irish Fairy god of abundance and prosperity. His wise and yet comical nature help us see the light in every hard situation. He is the kind of fairy that will trick you until you want to scream in mercy only to realize how much you want him in your life (like any “dad”).
Associated with Newgrange, the Ancient Irish Passage between the realm of the Fae and our own, Daghda is the master or paradoxes.
When we don’t understand our current circumstance or that of the world, Daghda can give us a different perspective - not necessarily to understand, but rather to accept and overcome.
His children, Brighid (Morrigan) and Angus (Boann), know him as a great father and someone who will teach them and others that wisdom doesn’t come from knowing, it comes from experience.
As we head into Samhain (Halloween), or the Celtic New Year it is important to reflect on the journey past. The lessons we may have missed or the teachings that we overlooked throughout the year can shine bright during this time when the veil is at its thinnest.
Connecting with the fairy realm has never be easier!
So if you are ready to invoke the kind of deity that takes life, death, and sex to a whole other level…invoke Daghda. He will light your path…
All the way to Newgrange!
